RV Safe Inspections: Ensuring Your Purchase

We specialize in thorough RV inspections to protect buyers from making costly mistakes. Trust our expert team to help you make a wise choice.

We are RVers ourselves. Some of what we know have been learned the hard way so those lessons stick really well. Add to that our schooling and you get inspectors who know what we talk about and understand your needs. We look at each RV contracted to be inspected with a critical eye concentrating on finding the issues that can make owning it a problem. Yes, we hope for the best but do our job realistically realizing that way too many RVs out there are filled with issues. It stinks that clients come to us to look at new ones, but that is the way the market has gone due to lax production standards on the part of the manufacturers and poorly orchestrated warranty terms also. Never before have RV buyers been faced with such a quagmire than it is now.

While we strive always to do our highest level of service with comprehensive inspections covering everything, we do offer two lesser levels of inspections for those more budget conscious. Our intermediate level covers much of the potential problem areas but does lack the extras which could end up costing a buyer a bunch. There is also a basic inspection covering just the main systems. Obviously, we and others always recommend a comprehensive inspection, but understand costs can be an issue for some. Any level of inspection is better than none.

Do we have recommendations for prospective RV buyers? Sure.

1) Buy from a trusted dealer if not buying from a private owner. If you don't know of one, do some research.

2) Always be on guard and protect YOUR interests. If it sounds too good to be true, I guarantee you it is!

3) While a particular RV sounds and looks great, never jump in and buy on impulse.

4) If buying from a dealer, READ THE CONTRACT, EVERY PAGE BEFORE YOU SIGN! The manufacturers are NOT out for your best interests and a lot of dealers also. Know the terms of sale and ask questions for what you don't completely understand. Be clear on the warranty terms if a new one and make completely sure you understand them without any doubts. And if there is a provision you don't agree with or even a fee, say something and have it stricken if possible and stand your ground. Please, please, please trust me on this one if nothing else. Their warranties are not like the one on the new Chevrolet you recently bought. And if you find yourself needing to hire a lawyer over the RV, you might be shocked as to what is in some of the warranty terms about that.

5) If buying pre owned, realize that most of them are sold AS-IS and you buy it with everything wrong with it with no immediate recourse unless the seller knew of the issues in advance of the sale and never disclosed them. If they hid them, then you might have recourse but it may take having to hire a lawyer and that can get costly. Otherwise, you're pretty much screwed. And if you do buy one and buy a used RV warranty, read all of the fine print before you buy anything. You might be surprised to see that the warranty is not as wonderful as you are being made to believe it is. The same holds true for extended warranties on new ones.
